Why did Microsoft launch its priciest feature phone ever?

Many people often forget that Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), through its acquisition of Nokia's handset business, is now one of the largest feature phone makers in the world. Over the past year, Microsoft has focused on launching cheap feature phones like the refreshed Nokia 105, which costs just $20.

However, Microsoft recently shifted from that strategy by launching the Nokia 230, its priciest feature phone to date, for $55. That's just $15 less than its cheapest Lumia and pricier than Android devices like the SWIPE Konnect 3 and Kenxinda K528, which both cost less than $30. So, what does Microsoft hope to gain by launching a high-end feature phone that costs more than low-end smartphones?

Nokia 230

"Dumbphones" aren't dead yet
Feature phones are still used across large parts of the world because they have lower price tags, require lower monthly data fees, and can last for weeks on a single charge. Smartphones only started outselling feature phones worldwide in 2013. According to research firm eMarketer, only about a fifth of mobile users in India used smartphones last year, compared to two-thirds in America. Pew Research Center estimates that across seven sub-Saharan African nations, 65% of people still use feature phones.

Microsoft highly values these markets, because Apple and Alphabet's (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google, the two biggest players in smartphones, can't control the feature phone market. IDC claims that Microsoft actually generated more revenue from Nokia's feature phones ($765 million) than from Lumia devices ($754 million) in the third quarter of 2015.

Through the Nokia brand, Microsoft can launch scaled down versions of its apps, like Bing Search and MSN Weather, to tether more users in these markets to its ecosystem. Microsoft hopes that when these feature phone users upgrade to smartphones, they'll consider buying Windows 10 Mobile devices instead of iOS or Android ones, which would tether them to its "One Windows" ecosystem. That could help Microsoft boost its tiny 2.6% share of the global smartphone market.

Microsoft's tiered pricing strategy
Microsoft's feature phones cost between $20 to $55. The Lumia 430, Microsoft's cheapest smartphone, costs $70. However, the $55 Nokia 230 packs a decent punch for a feature phone. It comes with front and rear cameras, and each is supported with an LED flash. The 2-megapixel rear camera is comparable to Lumia 430's camera.

Lumia 430

The Internet-enabled phone can download scaled-down apps like Bing Search, MSN Weather, and Opera Mini, and it supports microSD cards up to 32GB. Microsoft also replaced the colorful plastic cases of previous Nokia feature phones with black and white cases with a gray, sand-blasted aluminum back cover for both colors. The device will launch in India, Asia, and the Middle East in December, and go on sale in other markets in 2016.

The $30 to $50 "sweet spot"
The Nokia 230 isn't cannibalizing Microsoft's own smartphones, but cheaper Android devices could steal customers away from both the Nokia 230 and the Lumia 430.

Google has been expanding into key markets like India with its "Android One" initiative, which attempts to reduce hardware and software fragmentation by getting OEMs to stick with similar specs and stock Android. However, Google encountered resistance in India because its original price target of $100 was considered too high. That's why it relaunched several Android One phones with its partners this summer to target a "sweet spot" between $30 and $50.

Google's plan to drive down smartphone prices to the same price as feature phones could disrupt Microsoft's tiered pricing strategy and squeeze out pricier feature phones like the Nokia 230. If that happens, Microsoft must launch even cheaper feature phones and low-end Lumias to compete against Google, which offers users access to a bigger mobile ecosystem of apps and services.

Microsoft's murky mobile future
Microsoft's mobile strategy of using Nokia-branded feature phones to capture first-time smartphone buyers sounds smart. But in reality, cheap smartphones are replacing feature phones too quickly for Microsoft's plan to pay off. Microsoft will also lose the right to use Nokia's brand for mobile phones at the end of 2016, which means that its current strategy isn't a sustainable long-term one.

Falling smartphone prices and data fees will likely render feature phones obsolete in the near future. As a result, Microsoft could be at a disadvantage again when customers in developing and emerging markets buy low-end Android devices instead of Windows 10 Mobile ones.

The huge philanthropic pledge by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife — totaling perhaps $45 billion — reflects the fast-paced emergence of a new Gilded Age of giving. The changes excite many in the charity world, but also raise questions about effectiveness, ethics and the impact on older charities that may not share in any windfall.

The huge philanthropic pledge by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife

Foremost, there is applause for the new wave of philanthropists — led over the past five years by Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, and subsequently joined by Zuckerberg and scores of other billionaires in the United States and abroad.

The Giving Pledge, founded in 2010 by Gates and Buffet, now has 138 billionaire signatories from 15 countries who have pledged to give away more than half of their wealth. Many, including Zuckerberg, want to be personally engaged in the oversight and management of their pledged funds, and are finding nontraditional ways of leveraging them.

Amir Pasic, dean of Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, drew parallels between these modern-day philanthropists and those from the earlier Gilded Age, roughly a century ago, when the Carnegie, Ford and Rockefeller families pioneered a new type of charitable foundation.

"This new generation also is innovating — they have good reason for worrying that doing things the way they were done before may not succeed," Pasic said. "They've been disrupters in their industries, and they're looking to be disrupters in some of their philanthropic work."

Pasic drew another parallel between the two Gilded Ages — in both eras, he said, income inequality was a glaring reality that seemed to accentuate the power and responsibilities of the super-rich.

"There's a recognition that they should work to fix some of those problems," Pasic said.

Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, detailed their pledge on Tuesday, promising to commit 99 percent of their Facebook stockholdings to fighting disease, improving education and other causes. Their new organization will pursue its goals through a mix of charitable donations, private investment and promotion of government-policy reform.

According to Facebook, the new initiative will be organized as a limited liability company, rather than as a nonprofit foundation — potentially giving it leeway to do political lobbying. To some experts on philanthropy, that's an area of concern as the new generation of mega-donors seeks to maximize their influence.

"It's a little scary," said Kathleen McCarthy, director of the Center for the Study of Philanthropy at the City University of New York.

"With sums of that size, where should we draw the line?" she asked. "What role should the uber-rich have in shaping public policies and public opinion?"

She noted that Virgin Group founder Richard Branson and some other contemporary philanthropists are eager to invest in entrepreneurs and for-profit companies — a trend which she said could blur the boundaries between business and philanthropy.

In the U.S., the funds that do go to nonprofits are generally accompanied by significant tax benefits. In effect, said professor Ray Madoff of Boston College Law School, this means that the large-scale donors are able to tackle charitable initiatives under their own name with funds that might otherwise have financed government programs.

"We say 'Wasn't Person X very generous,'" Madoff said. "But that person's investment is actually subsidized up to 60 percent by the rest of us, so there's a significant public investment in this."

Another consequence, Madoff said, is a relatively smaller share of charitable gifts in the U.S. going to traditional charities such as United Way and the American Red Cross. The biggest gainers, she said, have been donor-advised funds, which enable donors to make a charitable contribution, immediately receive a tax benefit, and then recommend grants from the fund at any time thereafter.

This trend has roused some concerns related to the fact that large sums of money sit idle in the funds' accounts for years at a time, rather than going to immediate charitable use.

"Why don't they make the gift directly to the charity, to address a particular need now?" asked Dwight Burlingame, a professor at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Pasic, the school's dean, said it will be interesting to see how the overall nonprofit sector in the U.S. fares as the new-generation philanthropists expand their reach. He noted that most other countries have less robust charitable sectors than the U.S. and rely more on government funding to support the arts, social services and other causes.

In China, he said, the new wave of billionaires "have nowhere to put their money. There's not a nonprofit ecosystem that deals with issues like hunger and homelessness."

While the Giving Pledge has attracted 138 signatures, there remain many billionaires who've made no such public commitments.

"Most of the people who signed it were already givers," said Stacy Palmer, editor of the Chronicle of Philanthropy. "If you look at the Fortune 400 list, there's a lot of people to go, a lot more money."

Zuckerberg and Chan, in announcing their pledge, said potential donors "should not wait to give back."

"Our giving is just starting and we commit to being active learners, listeners and participants for years to come," they wrote.

It is awkward when Uber users hop into someone else's waiting Uber ride instead of their own, which can sometimes happen during major events such as concerts. It is even more awkward when Uber users try to enter what they think is their Uber ride, when it is a private car that they are attempting to get into.

Such situations could be what pushed Uber to release what it calls the SPOT technology, which is a new solution that will allow Uber drivers and riders to connect with each other amid crowds through the usage of colored lights.

In a post in Uber's online newsroom, the company state that it has provided some of its driver partners in Seattle with SPOT devices that attach to their windshields. When Seattle Uber users request for a ride through the Uber app, they are asked to pick among several color choices.

As the requested Uber ride approaches the vicinity of the user, the light bar of the SPOT device on the Uber ride will light up accordingly. This which would allow the rider to determine which car among what could be several ones in the area is the Uber ride that was requested.

The SPOT technology will also be helping drivers find out which among the people in a certain area are the ones that requested the ride. The user will also be able to light up the screen of their smartphone with the chosen color for the ride by pressing and then holding on the color. The smartphone can then be waved to signal the approaching Uber driver for the pickup.

"SPOT is the latest experiment in our ongoing effort to make Uber pickups as seamless as possible," Uber said in the newsroom post, adding that by making it easier for drivers and riders to find each other among other people and cars, then waiting times can be trimmed down that would result in a better experience for everyone.

The feature, if successful, could find its way out of Seattle after testing and into other markets, adding another helpful feature for the pioneering, though at times controversial, ride-sharing service.

The retro appearance is so in, it can by no means be out for Olympus.
The OM-D E-M10 Mark II is Olympus doing what it does first-class: preserve pushing the mirrorless camera envelope with layout and practical features.

Because the entry-degree version within the OM-D own family (the E-M5 is for intermediates and E-M1 for serious pros), the E-M10 series is aimed photographers who need to ditch their bulky DSLR as well as newbie photographers who need to graduate from their smartphones.

For its Mark II creation, Olympus dug into its antique digital camera closet for inspiration to give the camera a fair greater unfashionable look. Even as the majority of the body continues to be plastic wrapped in leather, sure sections are made from magnesium alloy. And the dials — whoo, they are metal and knurled for that greater tactile sense. Even the energy switch up top has an vintage college aptitude to it: You flip it to pop up the flash rather than urgent a button. I love it.

Internally, the E-M10 Mark II nonetheless has a 16-megapixel live MOS image sensor and a TruePic VII picture processor. Photographs might not have as much resolution as cameras with an APS-C photograph sensor like the Sony A6000, however i can guarantee you it's plenty of pixels to work with.

That does not imply there aren't worthwhile enhancements, due to the fact there are. The camera now has 5-axis image stabilization, a feature Olympus added down from the E-M5; a 2.36-million-dot OLED digital viewfinder (EVF) it's nearly twice as sharp because the previous 1.Four-million-dot EVF; and a continuous taking pictures capability that could snap eight.Five frames per 2nd.
Together, these capabilities all add as much as pix which are sharper and feature much less blur, in addition to a greater exciting taking pictures revel in

You not ought to use the directional buttons to adjust the point of interest factor and might slide your finger throughout the display screen rather. That way, you could hold your eye at the display, even though it's a little gimmicky.

There are exciting new capabilities i am very interested by trying out when i am getting a review unit: stay Composition and 4K time-lapses. The previous lets you take lengthy-exposure pix, like famous person trails, and see them developing in real-time, and the latter takes 4K-decision photographs and turns them into a time-lapse video.

That said, the E-M10 Mark II doesn't shoot video in 4K resolution — only as much as 1080p (full HD) at 60p, 50p, 30p, 25p and 24p resolutions. There is also a hundred and twenty frames in line with 2d gradual-movement video, but it's at puny 640 x 480 (VGA) resolution.

The E-M10 Mark II could be out in September and value $699 for just the frame and $799.Ninety nine with a 14-42mm EZ lens. The Mark II body is $50 less than the E-M10 become whilst it released closing 12 months; though, it now may be discovered for $499 on Amazon.

I was blown away by using the primary OM-D E-M10. I brought it to Disney global and all my pictures grew to become out high-quality. I praised the camera for taking photos with lots of detail and performing like a champ in low-mild conditions. If I hadn't purchased a Sony A6000, i might have bought the E-M10.

Olympus says the unique E-M10 will remain sold till supply runs out. At that factor, the digital camera will in all likelihood be discontinued.

Have some thing to add to this story? Share it in the feedback.

Your telephone's battery lifestyles isn't any doubt very essential to you, but its charging time subjects, too -- just ask every body who's had mere mins to top up a cellphone before heading out. So who offers the fine recharge costs, then? Tom's guide may have a solution. It recently performed a charging speed take a look at to determine which phones will deliver the maximum electricity while you're in a rush. In brief, you will likely want to make a beeline towards both ASUS' Zenfone 2 or Samsung's Galaxy S6. The Zenfone 2 is the fastest in quick bursts, supplying you with 32 percent power in just 15 minutes. The Galaxy S6 is quicker ordinary, however, hitting a hundred percent after 1 hour and 22 minutes.

Zenfone 2

Of path, the overall performance relies upon on no longer only a phone's generation, however the length of the battery. Samsung wins in part because it has a highly small 2,550mAh percent as compared to the 3,000mAh-plus batteries of different phones with fast refills, inclusive of the Zenfone, G4, Droid faster and Nexus 6. Whilst you will be the primary to unplug your telephone if you have an S6, you could also be the first to plug in once more.

One component's for certain: if you do not have quick charging at all, you'll be aware the difference. Both Apple's iPhone 6 and the OnePlus 2 were nicely at the back of the front-runners, taking over to 73 minutes longer to hit peak potential. That won't be a deal-breaker in case you best ever go trying to find a wall outlet on the cease of the night time, however it's something to do not forget in case you frequently find yourself going for walks low on juice in mid-day.

Review based on a production Canon EOS T6s running firmware 1.0.0

The greatest Rebel yet. That's a phrase we mutter about once a year. This time, we really mean it, and by a factor of two. The Canon EOS Rebel T6s, as well as its companion, the T6i (known as the 760D and 750D outside of the US) both feature a new 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor (up from 18MP on the T5i / 700D) coupled with a new 7560 pixel RGB + IR metering sensor for more accurate metering. Although both cameras are very simiar there are also distinct differences, so each will get its own review. You can read about the T6i here.

Canon's new Hybrid CMOS AF III uses sensor-based phase detection points for increased focus speed and accuracy in live view. It also permits for Servo AF in live view, which lets you track moving subjects when shooting in live view. Canon claims that the performance of Hybrid CMOS III should be close to that of Dual Pixel AF (found in the EOS 70D and 7D II).

With the mirror down, the Rebels T6s uses the same 19-point phase detection AF as the 70D, which represents a vast improvement over the 9-point AF system in the T5i. The ISO range remains the same as its predecessor, 100-12800, expandable up to 25600.

EOS Rebel T6s (760D) key features

24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor

19-point autofocus system

Hybrid CMOS AF III focus system (live view)

7560 pixel RGB + IR metering sensor with skin tone detection

3" fully articulating touchscreen LCD

Eye sensor for use with optical viewfinder

LCD information display on top plate

Quick control dial on rear

5 fps continuous shooting

1080/30p video

Servo AF in live view

Wi-Fi with NFC

Other advancements come in the form of built-in Wi-Fi with NFC - a first in the EOS DSLRs range - and Flicker detection, first seen in the Canon EOS 7D Mark II, which also makes its way into both models.

The camera also retains several features from the Rebel T5i, including a fully articulating 3" touchscreen LCD, 5 fps continuous shooting, and 1080/30p video.

Specs compared
While the T6s shares many core features with the T6i, the user experience on the T6s/760D is aimed toward more advanced users. The T6s will cost $100/£50/€60 more than the T6i, and offer users a nice list of features to make that extra money spent worth it. These include a a top LCD screen - the first on any Rebel - a Quick Control dial on the back, and an eye sensor to shut off the LCD panel when you're shooting with the viewfinder. The T6s also offers Servo AF in Live View which allows for continuous AF in burst mode. The final advantage is the T6s' ability to record HDR movies in real time, a potentially nifty feature for budding film makers.

Before we get to those differences in detail, let's see how the the T6s compares with the T6i, as well as the Rebel T5i (700D) that is now the low-end model in Canon's DSLR lineup.

Probably the biggest difference between the T6s and the T5i is the sensor. It's no secret that Canon has been using the same (or very similar) 18 Megapixel sensor since the Rebel T2i (EOS 550D). The new 24.2MP sensor catches up with the latest DSLRs from Nikon, Pentax, and Sony.

The other major addition is Wi-Fi with 'active' NFC. If you're using an NFC-equipped phone (iPhone 6's don't count) then you can tap it against the camera to pair. If you don't, it's not terribly difficult. Once that's done you can remotely control the camera from your phone, transfer photos, and then share them with friends and family. If you set up Canon's Image Gateway service you can choose where photos go (and add comments) right on the camera.

Available accessories include a battery grip (BG-E18), numerous viewfinder knick-knacks, and wired and wireless remotes. Both cameras will be available in April.
Canon EOS T6s / T6i overview video

Yet, despite this, the last thing it's trying to be is a mirrorless camera. Instead it's trying to be a non-specific interchangeable lens camera: a camera where you don't have to think about whether it has a mirror or not.

As a result it looks like a miniature DSLR and includes all the control points you'd expect. In fact it includes all the control points you'd expect from a mid-range DSLR, including twin control dials as well as plenty of buttons and switches. However, because it is a mirrorless camera, it is able to make good use of its fully articulated, touch-sensitive screen.

The specifications are pretty solid, too. 16MP isn't exactly cutting-edge at this point but 4K (UHD) video remains something of a rarity (at the time of writing), especially if you factor-in the fact that the G7 also offers focus peaking and zebra highlight warnings - two of the key tools necessary for shooting useable video that are often absent from its peers.

The G7 also tries to turn its video capability into a plus for people with no intention of shooting video: the latest iteration of Panasonic's '4K Photo' mode includes the option to constantly record 1 sec chunks of video that are written to the memory card the moment you hit the shutter button. This means that you still shoot to 'get the moment' but you're much more likely to be successful.

Camera specification highlights

The design of the G7 suggests Panasonic is hoping to attract would-be DSLR buyers, but the level of direct control also makes it competitive with the likes of Sony's a6000 (which also offers a built-in viewfinder and reasonable degree of direct control), Olympus's E-M10 or Fujifilm's X-T10. This means it represents something of a bargain for users who want this additional control but risks intimidating the first-time ILC shooter.

The Panasonic isn't, perhaps, the prettiest option in this company, but is the best specified if video and stills are taken into account. It's also one of the smallest of these cameras - especially if you consider the size of lenses that you might attach.

Specs comparison

One thing that should be apparent from this table that, with the exception of the occasional distinguishing feature, the specifications are all pretty similar. They all offer Wi-Fi, builit-in viewfinders and movable rear screens. Those cameras that don't have built-in image stabilization tend to be sold with image stabilized lenses so that, as a package, they offer similar capabilities.

The majority of these cameras have APS-C sensors, which are around 60% larger than the one in the Panasonic or Olympus, would you'd expect to give them around a 2/3EV noise advantage but also allows the Panasonic and its lenses to be significantly smaller, for the same equivalent focal lengths.

Interestingly, the sole DSLR we've included here also has a similar battery life, which is unusual, and a significantly smaller viewfinder, which is the cost that is usually paid for choosing an optical viewfinder (especially at this price piont).

Two cameras not included here, for reasons of space are Nikon's D5500, which offers similar specifications again but with much greater battery life (820 shots) an a 0.52x optical viewfinder, and Samsung's NX500, which offers no viewfinder but can shoot 4K video from a small crop of its sensor and is said to offer around 400 shots per charge.
Review based on production Fujifilm X-T10
The Fujifilm X-T1 was a landmark camera in many ways, with it's extremely high resolution electronic viewfinder, great image quality, weather-sealed body, and engaging control system (we even gave it a Gold award). It's fairly commonplace for camera companies to follow up successful launches of high-end products, such as the X-T1, with a slightly-stripped down, more reasonably-priced alternative that uses many of the same components; a younger sibling, if you will. The Fujifilm X-T10 is exactly that.

At its core are the same 16MP X-Trans CMOS II APS-C sensor and EXR Processor II. It carries on the SLR-like tradition (as opposed to Fujifilm's more rangefinder-like cameras), and offers ample control points, customizable buttons, a tilting LCD, and of course, Fujifilm's much-loved film emulations. Fujifilm is aiming it at hobbyist and a younger generation of creatives: essentially those who might not be able to afford (or don't want to spend more than $1000 on) the X-T1, but still want the same image quality it offers.

Fujifilm X-T10 key features

Magnesium alloy body

As expected, a large number of the key features associated with the X-T10 are identical, or very similar, to those of the X-T1. One major feature, a vastly improved AF system, was first announced as a firmware update for the X-T1 a few weeks ago. Every one of those AF updates come standard in the X-T10. They mainly concentrate on improving AF performance in low contrast situations as well as adding the ability to track subjects across the frame. This is the first time Fujifilm has offered any sort of real subject tracking capabilities to its cameras.

The X-T10 also sports a brand new graphic user interface that offers customizable display icons. Other features includes front and rear control dials that can be clicked inward, essentially giving each dial a secondary function. Also, as of launch, Fujifilm claims the X-T10's EVF has 'the World's shortest lag time' at just 0.005 secs.

Compared to X-T1
The X-T10 is available now for $400 less than the X-T1's list price. That's a nice chunk of change saved that could be invested in lenses or other accessories. So what do you sacrifice?

While both cameras offer 2.36M dot OLED EVFs, the X-T10's is smaller, using optics that offer 0.62x magnification, vs the 0.77x magnification of the X-T1's EVF. If 0.62x magnification sounds familiar, that's because the Fujifilm X30 compact has the exact same EVF, with the same magnification.

You'll also lose the extensive weather-sealing of the X-T1. This sacrifice is a bit less obvious, as the X-T10 has a very impressive build-quality and feel, on par with the X-T1. Interestingly, it is not made in Japan like most of Fujifilm's high-end gear. The bottom reveals it is instead manufactured in Thailand. Other differences include a slightly less high-res LCD on the X-T10, 920k dots vs 1040k dots on the X-T1.

On the flip side, the X-T10 does offer some advantages over its big brother, including a pop-up flash, that new graphic user interface in the viewfinder, and a smaller, lighter body; 381g vs 440g. It's not an earth-shattering difference, but it is certainly noticeable.

The two cameras are laid out in very similar fashion. Both offer 3 control dials on top, with plenty of custom function buttons located around the camera body. The X-T10 has seven customizable buttons in total, compared to six on the X-T1. In terms of direct controls, the X-T10 has a dedicated shutter speed, exposure compensation and drive mode dial.

Kit options and accessories
The Fujifilm X-T10 will be available in either black or silver in a variety of different kit options. The silver, by the way, is a brand new coating that is slightly lighter in color than the 'titanium' coating of the X-T1.

The body only is set at $800, kitted with a Fujinon 16-50mmf/3.5-5.6 OIS it will cost $899. With the nicer Fujinon 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS, it will cost $1099. Interestingly, the X-T10, body-only, will retail for exactly the same price, at launch, as another new APS-C ILC: the Nikon D5500.

Fujifilm is also offering two different accessories as of launch: a leather case and a hand grip. The hand grip is essentially the same design concept as the ones released for the X-E2 and X-Pro1 back in January, 2014. It affixes to the bottom of the camera body and doubles as an ArcaSwiss-compatible plate. Pretty sweet. The leather case is also quite well-thought-out, it offers a door to access the battery and memory card, without having to take it off, as well as a tripod socket.

If you're new to digital photography you may wish to read the Digital Photography Glossary before diving into this article (it may help you understand some of the terms used).

Olympus' TG-series of tough cameras have been some of our favorites, with the TG-2 and TG-3 both earning silver awards. What has impressed us about these two cameras are their relatively fast lenses (at wide-angle), good photo quality (by compact camera standards), GPS and compass, and limited manual controls. Oh, and they live up to their 'Tough' moniker - these cameras can take a beating.

While you'd never know by looking at it, the TG-4 is a significant upgrade over its predecessor with the addition of Raw support. Olympus' cool 'Live Composite mode', a pair of custom setting spots on the mode dial, and additional underwater modes are also new features.
Handling

One can't help but imagine an advertisement where a big truck pulls up onto a dusty construction site, and out steps a man (or woman) with the Tough TG-4 clipped onto their belt. The TG-4 looks the part, largely due to its exposed screws, hard plastic grip, and solid metal frame, and in your hand it indeed feels like it could handle that 7 foot drop with ease.

Speaking of drops, in addition to being able to take a fall from 2.1m/7ft, the TG-4 is also waterproof to 15m/50ft, crushproof to 100kgf/220lbf, freezeproof to -10C/+14F and dustproof. The elements are kept outside by a pair of double-locking sealed doors - one for USB and HDMI, the other for battery and memory card.

Key Features

16MP BSI-CMOS sensor

F2.0-4.9, 25-100mm equiv. lens

3" LCD w/460k dots

Waterproof to 15m/50ft

Raw support

GPS with compass and manometer

Wi-Fi w/smartphone app

1080/30p video

Optional conversion lenses

Ergonomics aren't quite as good as the camera's build quality. The front grip and rear thumb rest are made of slippery plastic (it would be better if it was rubberized), rear controls are tightly packed, and the zoom lever takes some getting used to.

On paper, the TG-4's lens - which is shared by the Pentax WG-4 and WG-5 - is the best in its class. At its 25mm wide end, the maximum aperture is F2.0, which makes it great for low light and underwater photography. The lens becomes a lot more conventional at the telephoto end, where the aperture is a F4.9. A sensor-shift image stabilization system helps reduce the effects of camera shake, and seemed to be effective in the time we spent with the camera.

A unique feature of the TG-4 is its ability to attach fisheye and telephoto conversion lenses - both of which are waterproof. Also available is a $40 LED Light Guide, which can be used for macro photography (the minimum focus distance on the TG-4 is 1cm). Two other accessories of note include an underwater housing, which lets you take the camera down to 45m/150ft as well as an underwater strobe which can be controlled wirelessly by the TG-4.

You'll use a very nice 3" LCD to compose your photos. This display has 460k dots and has very good visibility in both bright sunlight and dark rooms.

The TG-4 has two menus: a function (shortcut) menu that pulls out from the right side of the screen as well as a more traditional menu. Both are responsive and easy to navigate. One thing to note is that Raw can only be turned on in the shortcut menu.

It is not surprising that Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems have taken the free upgrade to Windows 10 in huge numbers with the installation numbers having reportedly surpassed the 27 million mark already. The official number of Windows 7 and Windows 8 users having upgraded to Windows 10 was released by Microsoft last Thursday, July 30. The company had said that, within the first 24 hours of the availability of Windows 10, approximately 14 million users had already upgraded to the new platform.

The age old pioneer of modern computer operating system now promises great new features, one which is the recall of the good old start button functions that was discontinued since last version. Windows 10 also crosses the bridge and will be able to run on phones. It is lovely, enjoyable, and straightforward to use.

The platform can shift between keyboard and mouse and touch screen on two-in-one devices such as Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3. Their even appear to be some situations the place the earlier copy of Windows wasn’t activated prior to upgrading to Windows 10. There’s something about using a Mac that matches up nicely with the entrepreneurial mindset, that rare breed that is not afraid to go against the norm. if that’s your statement, keep making it. You are not missing out.

Another notable feature was Cortana, the promise of introducing a better and more effective Microsoft’s version of Siri by being flexible and available across more platforms, a big trait of a good friend is being dependable and having your back when you need it. Cortana has that in spades, and to get her attention, all you have to do is say, “Hey, Cortana”.

CNET described Windows 10 as the Goldilocks version of Microsoft’s PC operating system, referring to the fact that it is a “just right” compromise between the familiar dependability of Windows 7, combined with the forward-looking touchscreen vision of Windows 8. To get the software you just have to visit Microsoft’s TechNet Evaluation Centre, sign in with your Microsoft account and register. However, every previous operating system had some holes and bugs.

A redesigned Action Centre is also present. Similar to its excellent Windows 10 counterpart, the Windows 10 Mobile Action Centre is a highly versatile menu that, in addition to listing notifications, provides quick access to and/or toggle buttons for the Camera app, Airplane Mode, WiFi settings, brightness settings, Bluetooth, torch, VPN setup tool, rotation lock, general Settings menu and more.

The Windows 10 Mobile interface isn’t too far off that of Windows Phone 8.1, although it has been updated to look a bit more modern. Live Tiles are translucent, so they don’t completely block out custom backgrounds, and a new list of recently installed apps is now instantly accessible by swiping to the right on the home screen.

Google rejected CNIL's request to expand the EU ruling globally, but critics fear what will happen if Google loses this battle.

Late last month, Google said that it "respectfully disagree[s] with the CNIL's assertion of global authority" on the EU ruling and asked the French watchdog to withdraw its order. Under CNIL's plan, all of Google's sites worldwide would be forced to follow the "right to be forgotten" ruling. In response, Google said that this plan is "a troubling development that risks serious chilling effects on the web" and emphasized that the right to be forgotten is not the law globally. If it were, Google said, "the Internet would only be as free as the world's least free place." By not complying with CNIL's order, Google could face fines up to €150,000.

While Google has already risked being fined for disobedience, free speech advocates are wary about the ruling's expansion. One such advocate, Emma Llansó - a free expression scholar at the Center for Democracy and Technology think tank - said, "When we're talking about a broadly scoped right to be forgotten that's about altering the historical record or making information that was lawfully public no longer accessible to people, I don't see a way to square that with a fundamental right to access to information." Harvard law professor Jonathan L. Zittrain echoed this response, saying, "France is asking for Google to do something here in the U.S. that if the U.S. government asked for, it would be against the First Amendment. That is extremely worrisome to me." CNIL is expected to respond to Google's request within the required two-month period.

A major security flaw has been discovered in Mozilla’s Firefox web browser that could potentially compromise users’ sensitive files and upload them to servers in Ukraine.

A Firefox user found an advertisement on a news site in Russia which was serving the Firefox exploit.

The company explains in its blog that the bug comes from the interaction of the mechanism that enforces JavaScript context separation (the “same origin policy”) and Firefox’s PDF Viewer. Mozilla’s products that don’t contain the PDF Viewer, such as Firefox for Android, are not vulnerable to the threat.

The security flaw does not enable execution of arbitrary code but allow injecting a JavaScript payload into the local file context; allowing for search and upload potentially sensitive local files.

The particular ad in question was looking for develop focused files on a users’ system. It affects both Windows and Linux users, but Mac users are not targeted by this particular exploit. The bug could potentially change passwords and keys in the developer focused files. Those who use ad-blocking software and special filters might have been protected too.

The company has issued a patch for the vulnerability and all Firefox users are suggested to update to Firefox 39.0.3. The fix has also been shipped in Firefox ESR 38.1.1.

Plus, the auto-evaporation system allows for hours of continuous operation with no water to drain or no bucket to empty. This model comes with everything needed including a flexible exhaust hose and an easy-to-install window venting kit. The window vent can be removed when the unit is not in use.

This Honeywell Portable Air conditioner had exceeded my expectations. When I was looking to buy a new portable air conditioner I did a lot of research to find a good one. I couldn't find very much information on Honeywell Portable air conditioners but I knew that Honeywell has a good reputation in other categories of appliances. I decided to go for this Honeywell portable air conditioner and I am so glad that I did! It worked really well throughout the entire summer. We had some really hot days and this air conditioner always provided releif and the portability is really convenient. The other nice feature is that when the unit is not being used you can take the exhaust pipe out of the window for when its cold out, or for security so that you can lock your window. The performance of this unit was really above my expectations. It cooled our Kitchen, Livingroom, Dining Room and a large hallway! It also looks much sleeker than other units, and it's quieter than our previous unit. I would recommend this unit for anyone in the market for a portable air conditioner.

The CoolBot turns most brands of off-the-shelf, window-type air conditioning units (purchased separately) into a turbo-charged cooling machine. Transform a (highly-insulated) room into a walk-in cooler, keeping products fresh and thermostatically controlled cool to 35° even in the heat of summer. Truly DIY. No tools or electrical knowledge required (See our youtube installation video). Installs in 2-3 minutes on (many) major brands of window air conditioning units purchased separately, including GE, Samsung, and Haier. (Check your brand before purchasing on our website -- You *MUST* use StoreItCold sizing charts and recommended air conditioners brands or the CoolBot won't work.) CoolBot saves on upfront and installation costs and KEEPS saving with much lower electrical bills when combined with new EnergyStar rated a/c units engineered to stricter environmental and efficiency standards than standard walk-in cooler compressors. CoolBots are perfect for hunters, farmers, and florists.

CoolBots are recommended by many University extension programs. Do a quick Google Search to read articles about how many people use this system. * Read below to MAKE SURE it will work for you before purchasing, or call and ask * CoolBots have less than a 1% return rate, but they are *NOT* appropriate for all applications! *Rooms require 4" of rigid foam insulation, floors, walls and ceiling. Less insulation and unit only cools into the 40's. See construction tips on our website. *Requires use of StoreItCold sizing and brand recommendations. Undersized/off brand air conditioners WILL NOT WORK! *CoolBot rooms get down to 43 degrees quickly, then slow down (because of minimal fins/fans in standard air conditioners). Uses involving more than 6 openings/hour (many restaurants) are TOO MUCH for CoolBots to keep up. Temps will be in the low 40's and not safe for food. Don't buy. Caterers/small cafe's love CoolBot. Large busy restaurants would NOT except as a secondary cooler.

Apple MacBook Pro MGXC2LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop with Retina Display (OLD VERSION)

I'm coming to this Macbook Pro 13inch Retina laptop from a 2010 model Macbook Air that I absolutely adored for nearly 4 years. The Air was so light and portable that I reluctantly gave it up, but concerns of weight vanished once I got my hands on this beauty. Yes, it's slightly heavier, but only slightly. What I like most of all is how the body isn't tapered from back to front like the Air. It's a solid piece of symmetrical aluminum, and it just feels so well built.

One of the reasons I eventually gave up and sold my Air in favor of this was the Retina screen. I've never seen one on the Macbooks, so I bought this sight unseen, but I had a vague idea of how it might look because I also own a retina iPad Mini and that screen is lovely. The screen on the mini is out-done by the amazing screen on this Macbook. I can't believe how good it is. And what's more, this Macbook only cost 100 dollars more than the latest Air. Why would anyone not pay the difference for this screen? It's totally night and day between the Air's screen and this one. The Air is by no means terrible, but it cant compete with this.

The audio is also a nice surprise on the Macbook with Retina. It was good on my Air, but it's far better on the Retina. There's no speaker grills either, so I assume they're below the keyboard. Regardless they sound amazing, albeit low on bass.

My Air didnt have a backlit keyboard, so this was a nice surprise. No more hunting and hoping at night in bed. Another nice addition I didnt have before was HDMI-out. Now I can simply connect my Macbook to my HDTV and play Hulu on my TV. No reason to pay for Hulu Plus. On my other computer it wouldnt allow Hulu to output to TV, but its not being blocked on the Macbook for some reason. I wont complain.

Anyway, I'd list some dislikes, but I don't have any. The keyboard and trackpad are Apple's usual brilliant keyboard and trackpad. They're unmatched.

If you're on the fence about getting one, just go for it. I'm one of those people that easily get buyer's remorse, but I have none of that with this laptop. So good.

I've had some experience with MacBooks throughout my life. I've come to respect them as workhorses that can withstand the test of time. My wife retired her early 2008 Macbook last summer after completing her Nursing degree. The Notebook endured five years of continuous research, word processing and social networking. Outside of a small crack near the mousepad it still worked great. There was one point I needed to replace the ram, and I also updated it with an SSD to give it a needed speed boost. However these types of upgrades were very easy and not time consuming, and never needed an Apple genius to complete them. Seeing a piece of technology like that Macbook still cruising after what is a long time in the technology world is impressive, and that same type of design philosophy carries over to the new Macbook Pros with Retina Display but with some new tradeoffs...

A lot is different about this beast than the 2008 standard Macbook. A heavy plastic body that housed a removable battery, hard drive, ram and an optical drive is replaced with an aluminum unibody design where nothing is intended to be removable. In order to deliver a thin machine with a long lasting battery, Apple also removed the optical drive. In 2008 this would have been crazy, but in 2014 it's a generally accepted drawback. Clearly this new Macbook is a sign of a new generation of technology intended to be maintained solely by the company that sells the product. Apple wants to be your one stop shop from the point of sale to the day you retire the machine. It makes sense, since we do that with phones and tablets. But this will alienate self reliant users who want to save a buck or two. Certainly glued battery, ram modules are enough to turn a few away. I don't suspect this a big tradeoff for most non-techie buyers (That's most of us).

College students needing a machine for school will also need accept that most MacBooks are not gaming machines. So save some extra pennies for a PS4. Budget gaming laptops are cheaply made monstrosities that destroy batteries regardless if you're playing a game or not. And the expensive ones are generally overpriced for what you get, and still provide a poor computing experience.

If those two tradeoffs haven't turned you away, you probably won't find a better notebook at this price point. Just be careful in the specs you decide on because the option to upgrade is off the table. Here are some killer features:

The Retina display is beautiful. The viewing angles are tremendous and the screen is bright. The panel provides the same pixel density as the iPad with Retina Display (and the Air model), but the panel in the Macbook Pro with Retina is far superior in every way when comparing side by side.

The battery life on this device pushes north of 10 hours with web browsing and other basic uses (usually around 12). Watching video and more intense activities will push it at around 8 - 10 hours with average brightness. Most users who claim more excessive battery drain should be using the built in activity monitor application to check energy consumption of apps. Many Macbook users claim significant battery drain with applications like Google Chrome . It's a much different mindset than those who use a standard Mac and energy consumption really isn't a factor. In short, Macbook Pro users should be mindful of programs they use regularly.

The speed. The new refreshed model comes with 8gb of memory as a base. Most will consider 4gb enough memory for average users, but a week with the new OSX Yosemite beta revealed swap being used as I was exceeding my 4gb on the Mac Mini. This could just be inefficiencies in a beta product, but it did open my eyes to the fact that 8gb should be the new standard for most long term Macbook purchases. The largest part of what makes the Macbook Pro with Retina fly is the SSD built into the machine. The Macbook Pro with Retina Display is easily the fastest laptop i've ever used, and i'll thanking the SSD for most of that performance, but I suspect this machine will stay speedy for a long time thanks to the ram upgrade.

Then there is all the small touches. Backlit keyboard, aluminum body, tight software/hardware integration, sturdy OSX that is resistant to malware, integration with iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Even if you don't integrate into Apple's iOS ecosystem, it does great in Google's too. Chromecast works 100% with MacBooks, Google Chrome (battery hog) + Google Apps is great, and of course Google Play works well. All of Google's services are mostly browser based, and that gives Apple users the best of both worlds.

I would also say that if someone is debating between the Macbook Air and the Pro with Retina, try to cough up the extra bills. The pro is only slightly thicker, has a slightly lesser battery life but sports a tremendous screen, beefy spec boost and a premium fit and finish. Definitely recommended.

Epson WorkForce WF-2660 All-In-One Wireless Color Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax

I have been using an old Espon Stylus CX7400 for the past 7 years, and it was getting time to take it out to pasture. I like having an all-in-one unit, so I wanted to find something comparable (print, scan, copy) but with wireless capabilities. I didn't have to look long when I came across the Epson Workforce 2660. I snatched it up and so far, it has yet to disappoint.

SETUP
Out of the box, setup was pretty simple: take off strips of blue tape (used during shipping to hold components closed), connect AC adapter, power up unit and follow the instructions on the color screen. After the initial set up screens, you're then asked to install the software, which brings you through another series of firmware installations/setups, resulting in a Print Test page. The printer was fluid and responsive right out of the gate, and I was surprised by the speed with which the test page printed.

CONNECTIVITY
Used the USB connection to get everything up and running which is the simplest option. After initial setup, I then connected to our Wi-Fi, which was pretty easy. The printer looks for available signals, select your network, enter passowrd, and connection is established.

The Start Guide also has a QR code to install the Epson iPrint app, for iOS or Android. I REALLY dig this. I tested the app by printing a photo from my phone, and within seconds the image printed. The app not only allows you to print, but also perform maintenance tasks, such as head cleaning and firmware updates, and even shows current ink levels, negating the need to open the Device Panel folder on the PC. Nice.

I have no need for the Fax feature, and therefore did not test this out, so I cannot comment on how well this works.

PRINT SPEED
I have uploaded a video showcasing just how fast this unit prints. Black & white pages are mere seconds, with color being just a few moments longer. The printer also runs pretty quietly, so you won't have to soundproof the office.

INK
Ink cartridges are small and easy to install, and seem competitively priced (as of this review, between $9-12). The colors are true and bright, and the black is solid (no browning or graying, like with my last printer). Since I haven't been using the printer for long, I cannot comment on how long each cartridge lasts, but will update once I am able.

ON-BOARD COLOR TOUCHSCREEN
The color touchscreen is pretty slick and responsive. From the screen, you can Copy, Scan, Fax, as well as establish a wireless connection. Very nice feature.

CONS
The only real knock I can find at this point is some components feel a little cheap/flimsy, which makes me question long-term durability.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, I definitely recommend this unit for anyone in need of a printer with a host of capabilities. As I continue to use and explore its features, I will post updates, but for now I'm loving it!

Picked up a 11" 256GB at the Apple Store only because Amazon only carried the 128GB in the 11". Would have rather picked it up here as it was a few dollars cheaper and triple points on my Amazon Card on purchases here.

My only prior mac experience was a 2012 Mac Mini which I adored and sold it for what I paid for it a 6 months later when I thought new models were coming out. By the time they did, my money plans had changed. Bought another windows machine, that was HP junk. But I'm back on track and mac till the day I die.

I'm not a fanboy. If it sucked, I'd say it sucks. However I am a great lover of every apple product I've ever owned. Countless iPods, a few iPhones, Apple TV, etc... It all words like it should. Well designed, well built, easy and FUN to use.

I have some cheapskate relatives that look at apple as overpriced. However, my opinion is, Apple products are an investment. Use a windows laptop 3 years and if it even runs right (good luck) you can't get $100 for it. Meanwhile every apple product I've ever sold to upgrade brought me 3/4+ of the original purchase price. Most of the apple products I've had cost me 30cents to 1.00 a day the whole time I owned them. Life's short people... You owe it to yourself to enrich your life any way you can.

Last week I wanted to rip 5 new CDs I had bought on my HP "craptop". I swear I spent all freakin afternoon and the frustration was unreal. I know what I'm doing, I've ripped countless thousands of discs over the years and I made up my mind that day it was time to fork out the money.

Even though I had forgotten most of what I knew about my old mac, I plugged in the SuperDrive and did nothing more. Had 3 new CDs to rip and spent 4 minutes average to rip them. Burnt a couple others, equally as fast. I was actually disappointed that it didn't take longer because this thing is FUN to play with. Call me crazy, but I like FUN as opposed to FRUSTRATION.

Full disclosure, I'm a 46 YR old male who probably has below avg computer skills for my age. I have a few buddies who are BIGTIME computer nerds and they like Android and Windows machines because they know how to make them work well (sometimes) and I think they prefer them because they can show off their skill. They don't like Apple stuff because a person of even below avg intelligence could teach their self how to use an Apple product as good as any computer expert could. Personally I'm fine with whatever floats their boat and to each their own. For me, I'll stick with the well built, easy and fun to use toys that have high resale value because I'll always want to own what Apple comes out with next.

I'm trying to think if something negative to say about this spring 2015 MacBook Air or Apple in general but I'm at a loss. Can't really complain about any aspect of it.

My wife used it and it rocked her world and she won't give it back. So I'm gonna mess with it some more and decide if I want the exact same for me, the 13" or wait till April 10 for the new Macbook 12"

I spent about 2 whole days comparing every tiny aspect of the current spring 2015 lineup and here's my thoughts... They are all fantastic but for me, the Pro is overkill in every way. I don't need the extra size or weight and I don't like that it is the last year before that model sees a complete design overhaul which is due 2016.

As far as the Spring 2015 Air 11 & 13 vs the 12" new macbook April 10, 2015 release:

Laptop Options

11" AIR 128/4GB = 899
(I needed larger SSD)

11" AIR 256/4GB = 1099
(What I purchased for my wife)

11" AIR 256/8BG = 1199
(Double RAM $100)

13" AIR 128/4GB = 999
(I needed larger SSD)

13" AIR 256/4GB = 1199
(Larger screen, 10:9 screen ratio, card reader, faster flash memory, but heavier)

13" AIR 256/8GB = 1299
(Larger screen, 10:9, card reader, faster flash memory, double RAM, but heavier)

12" MACBOOK 256/8GB = 1299
(Larger screen, retina display, 10:9, double ram, faster flash, better keyboard, better keyboard lighting, lighter, thinner, usb-C port, newest trackpad, color choice)

Cons for new macbook compared to 11" MacBook Air.

only 1 port
No glow apple
Adapters
Less powerful processor
1st gen possible issues
Downgraded FaceTime cam.
No MagSafe
Only 1 port
$200 more than my config.

Pros over my 11" air

Retina display
Thinner, smaller, lighter
Newest trackpad
New key mechanism
LED behind each key
8GB memory over 4GB
16:10 ratio screen
3 color choices

A few other thoughts... If you google it, you will find people on forums who have had eye problems they believe from using the apple retina displays on the 13" MacBook Pro as well as other Apple products with Retina displays. This worries me because I have an eye disease, eye pain, and already compromised vision (not from retina though). It's quite a few people actually but I'm sure a small percentage of users overall. If I try the new macbook April 10 I will be very conscious of that during the 14 day apple return period (and as of this moment I do not know Apples policy on returning MacBooks but Apple Store and BestBuy is 14 days). Something I just wanted to throw out there if you think the display hurts your eyes. The AIR does not have a retina display and that was a big consideration when I bought it. BUT it is a beautiful display in it's own right. Makes my HP look like a screen door over the display.

Another thought, my above list is incomplete because I didn't need over the base processors. I couldn't afford the 512GB SSD which Id loved to have. Keep in mind everyone has different needs. I have a 2500+ CD collection as I'm a music lover. I didn't want to fool with an external hard drive, the 256GB is the biggest I could afford. I will rip a lot of my CDs in "iTunes plus AAC" because:

- I can get 10 full albums per GB
- the quality is well beyond good enough for casual listening on even above avg equipment.
- I like to keep lots of albums sync'd to my iphone for use in the car, and when Im on the treadmill.
- and lastly because I like to stream albums and playlist to my Yamaha A/V receiver and it can't do apple lossless.
- I will however keep a few hundred CDs of the best sound quality I own on the MacBook Air in Apple Lossless (like 4 albums per GB) so that when I connect my external USB AMP/DAC and HD598 headphones I can have the best possible SQ.

As far as the amount of memory (RAM) to choose in the Air series, you have 4GB standard with $100 upgrade to 8GB which likely you would have to buy through the apple store because Amazon only carries certain configurations. I researched this for HOURS and HOURS. Most people in the know strongly believe 4GB is all you need. And mine does run smooth as butter. If you run several memory intensive programs at one time you could be better with 8GB but honestly at that point you really need the MacBook Pro so upgrading the Air to 4GB is a complete waste of money even if you have a future proofing mentality it's just not needed. But if you need 8GB to sleep at night it's cheap enough at $100. Do no memory is not upgradable as it is soldered in. So get what you need at purchase. I had debated the future proofing aspect but if anything future operating systems are handling memory much better, not worse. If you are gonna do hardcore video editing your better off with the pro. 95% of users will see absolutely no benefit to the 8GB for everyday tasks, and certainly not for casual use of web surfing, email etc..

A lot of people are absolutely fine with the base model of the MacBook Air and will be extremely impressed with how powerful and slick this thing is. If you need more SSD space, use external memory options or pay the premium for Apples upgraded configs. As of 2015 the 13" AIR has 2x faster SSD than the 11" but they are all blazing fast compared to a spinning hard drive.

11" vs 13"

Let me save you a few hours of research. Everytime it has come up on various forums 50% love the 11" 50% love the 13" and quite a few own/owned both and love both. It will not be helpful to search it. They are both small they are both light. 13" is $100 higher in every configuration and has a 16:10 screen as opposed to 16:9 on the 11". The 13 has a SDXC card reader and 2x faster SSD other than that... The 11" has 135ppi (pixels per inch) and the 13" has 128ppi) I have viewed both side by side and if the 11"is better it is slight to the point you will never know. IIRC, the 13" has 12 hour battery as opposed to 9 for the 11". If you would use it on an airplane tray often or value SMALL and light over all else, go with the 11". The 13" is heavier but it's in no way heavy. The difference between the 13" MacBook Air and the new April 10 macbook is 1lb almost exactly and the 11" air is in between but closer to the new macbook in weight. Apple has all the specs on their site, but their comparison chart is lacking even compared to what I listed above. I compiled that from many sources. It's in no way definitive, but it really helped me decide.

I didn't personally want to save $100 by buying last years model, but if money's tight you have that option. New for 2015 is the 2x faster memory for the 13" and both got a 5th gen processor and upgraded to the 6000 graghics vs 5300. In the real world I heard this mean a slight boost in efficiency and shading detail on the graphics (in other words not a big deal from last year for the avg guy).

Excuse the typos, I typed all this on my iphone via diabetic index finger! I really hope this saves someone some hours of research. I hope you are able to buy one and I hope you enjoy it!
